About project

2023.

Kotlujevac Health Station in Zaječar (1,595 m²) represents the fundamental transformation of a facility from the 1970s into a modern medical center. The project task included the functional reorganization and unification of various units: pharmacies, dispensaries and ambulance services. The new structure retains the basic orthogonal form on the ground floor, while a bay window is introduced on the first floor, thus forming an asymmetrical and dynamic composition of the object.

Concept

The architectural concept is based on the introduction of an innovative aesthetic that achieves dialogue with the environment through the subtle application of traditional motifs. The facade is defined by the specific geometry of concave arches that expand in the horizontal and vertical direction, creating a constant change of light and shadows. These arched openings, placed in the counter direction, are a direct association with the forms present in the architecture of the nearby Orthodox temple. By combining contemporary materials and the rhythm of full and empty surfaces, the object achieves visual depth and enhances the identity of the entire settlement.

Kotlujevac Health Station shows how through bold facade cuts and arched forms old infrastructure buildings can be transformed into modern urban landmarks
