About project

2016.

The multi-family residential building in Winterthur is designed on a specific plot connecting two parallel streets at different elevations. With a gross area of 1,169 m², the project makes maximum use of the cascading terrain for clear zoning of the content. The lower level is profiled as a public zone with a cafe-restaurant and cart access to the underground garage, while the higher level of the plot is reserved for an intimate, private entrance to the residential area, thus achieving an ideal separation of functions within a single architectural volume.

Concept

The architectural concept is characterized by a reduced, rational form that respects the Swiss typology of construction, but reinterprets it through contemporary expression. Clean, white framed loggias with warm wood paneling of interior surfaces create visual focus and provide depth to facades, while large glass surfaces allow visual continuity with the surroundings. Special emphasis is placed on the roof and mezzanine terraces with lush greenery, which not only humanize the space, but also function as natural filters between the interior of the apartments and the urban matrix.

The facility in Winterthur presents a harmonious dialogue between precise geometry and natural relief, creating a peaceful oasis for contemporary living
