The renovation and expansion of the primary school “Ratko Pavlović — Ćićko” in Prokuplje (11,000 m²) includes the transformation of the existing building and the construction of a new fitness hall on the same plot. The existing size has been retained due to its harmonious proportions, while the functionality has been enhanced by the introduction of a modern hall that is partially buried in the terrain. The roof of the new hall was designed as an additional field for outdoor activities, thus achieving maximum use of the space for learning and play.

Concept

The architectural expression of the school is refreshed with the use of green tones and glass portals that open the interior to the exterior. The dynamics of the facade is achieved by the rhythmic placement of vertical brisoles at different intervals, which in addition to their aesthetic role also serve as protection from the sun. The concept tends to symbiosis with nature, where new volumes merge with the terrain, creating a unique environment that encourages the movement and interaction of students in a modern and spacious environment.
