About project

2019.

The project of public parking space on Sinđelić Square in Niš is conceived as an open, prefabricated, free-standing building with floors P+1. A total of 114 parking spaces are organized on a gross area of 2,067 m², with special emphasis on accessibility through the provision of places for people with disabilities. The construction of the building is based on the principle of the “fast-park” system, using prefabricated and semi-assembled elements that allow quick realization and efficient use of space within the dense urban matrix.

Concept

The architectural design of the building arose from the aspiration to transform the strict function of the garage into an aesthetically appealing element of the narrower urban zone. The simple cubic form was brought to life by the use of alu-bond panels on the street fronts, while the visual transparency was retained for natural ventilation and lighting of the space. While the street facades were treated as representative screens on a steel substructure, the sides oriented towards the apartment blocks were solved by a system fence that ensures security without compromising the privacy of the environment. The entire composition is softened by parterre greenery that follows the perimeter of the building, integrating the infrastructure into the natural context of the site.

The public garage in Niš is an example of how prefabricated systems and thoughtful materialization can turn a utilitarian structure into a modern architectural marker
