About project

2022.

The Nikola Tesla Airport project in Belgrade includes the construction of a new terminal, but also a comprehensive reconstruction of the existing main facility, thus forming a unique and functionally improved high-capacity complex. This intervention aims to modernize the infrastructure and adapt it to modern air traffic requirements.

The existing facility has been reorganized and improved through new spatial logic and contemporary materialization, while the new terminal expands capacities and introduces additional functionalities. By connecting the old and new parts, a continuous spatial unit is realized that allows efficient and intuitive movement of passengers through all phases of their stay at the airport.

Concept

The concept is based on the integration of the existing and the new through a unique architectural expression and functional connectivity. The contemporary facade of the unified structure forms a distinctive identity, while the transparent ground sections open the building to the access zones and emphasize the public character of the space. Horizontally developed volumes and rhythmic facade structure reflect the dynamics of movement and passenger flows, while carefully designed communications ensure a clear separation and organization of different directions of movement. The reconstruction of the existing facility is not only a technical improvement, but also a visual transformation that fits it into the modern context of the new terminal.

Old and new united into a single whole — the airport as a modern gateway to the city and a symbol of its development
