About project

2025.

The project includes a complex reconstruction and extension of the kindergarten “Zdravac” in the very center of Zaječar. Due to structural wear and tear, most of the old building was replaced by a new structure with a gross area of 1,786 m², while the segment of the existing shelter in the basement was integrated into the new raster. The building has floors Po+P+1 and is designed to accommodate 10 educational groups (4 on the ground floor and 6 on the floor). The functional organization is strictly zoned: from the technical block and laundry room in the basement, through the central hall-multipurpose hall on the ground floor, to spacious rooms for children's stay, which are equipped with the most modern floor and wall heating systems.

Concept

The architectural concept rests on clean lines and high-quality materials that give the building the character of an urban benchmark. The facade was solved as a ventilated system with fiber-cement panels (Equitone) and alubond accents on the entrance lot, thus achieving superior thermal and longevity. A particular challenge was the urban location, so the solution made maximum use of the yard space for play, while parking was solved by optimizing on the plot and using the surrounding capacity. The interior is defined through a fluid central hall that connects the administrative and educational zones, while the roof terrace and carefully planned greening with 37 new tree-lined planters create a healthy microclimate in the dense urban fabric.

Kindergarten “Zdravac” is an example of successful architectural revitalization, where advanced installations, such as VRF cooling systems and automated fire alarm, meet with a humane design adapted to the youngest
