About project

2018.

The conceptual solution of the new terminal of the airport “Konstantin the Great” in Nis includes the design of a modern aviation hub on an area of 7,500 m². The project is focused on expanding capacity and optimizing passenger flows, with the introduction of advanced technological solutions for check-in and preboarding. The terminal is designed to respond to the growing intensity of air traffic, providing the city with an infrastructure that matches European regional airports in terms of standards and functionality.

Concept

The concept of interior and exterior is based on an industrial aesthetic imbued with maximum brightness and transparency of the space. The interior is characterized by a bare roof structure in white, which, in addition to the roof skylights, creates the impression of airiness and spaciousness. The exterior volume is defined by clean horizontal lines and neutral-toned panels, achieving a visual understatement that does not burden the surrounding runway landscape. Clear signage and an open plan of the space allow intuitive movement, while glass partitions maintain a visual connection between the interior zones and the platform with the planes.

The new terminal of Constantine the Great Airport represents a fusion of engineering rationality and aesthetics of light, creating a distinctive first encounter with Niš
