About project

2015.

The project of the hotel “Suvo rudište” in Kopaonik includes the construction of a building with a gross area of 20,460 m², carefully shaped according to the morphology of the mountainous terrain. The base in the form of the Cyrillic letter “P” strategically closes the north, west and east sides of the plot, while the south side remains open, forming the central square — the piazza. Such spatial organization not only protects users from winds, but creates a vital public space that ennobles the micro and macro location, while the ground floor of the facility with business facilities directly gravitates towards this newly created gathering center.

Concept

The concept rests on the synergy of traditional mountain motifs and contemporary architectural forms. The visual identity of the building is defined by the use of natural materials — stone at the base and wooden lining on the upper floors, which achieves a perfect integration into the wooded landscape of Kopaonik. The stepped form of the roof and facade follows the logic of the terrain, while the large glass surfaces in the ground floor zone erase the border between interior comfort and the snowy exterior. The goal was to create a humane space that respects the mountain, using textures and materials that age with dignity in harsh climates.

Hotel Suvo rudište is an architectural response to the mountain massif, where a refuge in the heart of nature is created through stone stability and the warmth of wood
