Manufacturing and Commercial Building “MING” / Merošina

Manufacturing facilities originate from the industrial revolution and the introduction of machinery, creating the product as a crucial part of modern economic production. The newly designed building is intended for manufacturing, engineering, forging, and machining services for the railway, agricultural, mining, and hydraulic industries.

The building comprises two units – manufacture and commercial – and has a ground and first floor. The main entrance to the building is positioned on the southeast side towards the access road. Other technical entrances are provided to accommodate the purpose and size of the building and ensure a continuous production process. The manufacturing part occupies the most extensive area together with the auxiliary technical premises. The commercial part comprising locker rooms, dining room, and offices upstairs meets the needs of production and engineering employees.

The new building is used for heavy industry production, for which reason the architects came up with the idea to emphasize the natural environment of the building. In front of the main entrance, there is a natural pool with greenery reflecting the front facade. The pool has a clear white-cube delineated form. Dynamics in form is achieved with a cantilever overhang made of perforated sheet metal panels and a first-floor terrace. Natural and modern interior materials are in tune with the external environment. The goal was to create a natural, relaxing atmosphere, a business “oasis,” utterly unusual for this type of building.
